"Every House Has a Story" & "The Wings Tour"
 2 Unique Walking Tours in
Charleston, South Carolina
Both tours start in White Point Gardens, on the Battery, with a brief overview of Charleston's history using maps & images to illustrate Charleston's beginnings.
Meet me at the corner of King & South Battery Streets at a mutually agreed date & time.
The Wings Tour

Part book review, part walking tour, this guided conversation focuses on Charleston in the early 1800s, in the time of Sarah Moore Grimke, the heroine in Sue Monk Kidd's "The Invention of Wings".

Pauses along the way provide a visual backdrop to the book's story of 2 women: one from a privileged background, the other enslaved. Both women want to escape. Each struggles to be free.

Although the book is fiction, it is based on history. This tour will give you historical background about Charleston's place in American slavery,  starting in the Caribbean & spiraling into the Denmark Vesey Conspiracy that may (or may not) have happened in the early 1800s.
